On April 28D CEO will reveal the winners of its 2021 Commercial Real Estate Awards program. Leading up to the big event, we’re featuring all 83 finalists (51 projects and deals and 32 professionals), one category at a time. Today, we’re sharing information about the project in the Best Retail, Entertainment, or Hospitality category.

AC Hotel Fort Worth Downtown

AC Hotel Fort Worth Downtown

Key Players: Jackson-Shaw, Merriman Anderson Architects; Austin Commercial; Simmons Bank

The 252-room AC Hotel Fort Worth became the first AC Hotels by Marriott to debut in Tarrant County when it opened in Sundance Square last September. The 16-story hotel, developed by Jackson-Shaw, features art installations, outdoor spaces, and a library. The hotel also has a 24-hour fitness center, over 4,000 square feet of event space, and a European tapas-style restaurant and bar. The AC Hotel is also home to the second location of Pax & Beneficia, a Turkish coffee shop founded in Las Colinas

Globe Life Field

Globe Life Field

Key Players: HKS, Texas Rangers, City of Arlington

The Texas Rangers officially moved into their new 1.8 billion square foot, 40,300-seat stadium in 2020. The stadium, designed by HKS, includes a 268,000 square foot, 24-million-pound retractable roof. The $1.2 billion project was funded largely due to a $500 million gift from the City of Arlington, where the park is located. The new ballpark contains several amenities that the Ranger’s old stomping grounds, Globe Life Park, didn’t have, including climate control settings due to the roof and closer seating proximity to the field itself. Globe Life Field has five points of entry and seven seating levels.

Grandscape

Grandscape

Key Players:

Situated on 433 acres, Grandscape in The Colony is a true experiential mixed-use project that features office space, dining, a residential community, and retail stores anchored by Nebraska Furniture Mart. When fully completed, the development is expected to be 3.9 million square feet, stretching across over 400 acres. Entertainment options at Grandscape range from a Galaxy Theatre expected to open later this year to an indoor go-kart facility led by racing legend Mario Andretti. One of the developments newest additions is 331,000 square-foot Scheel’s sporting goods store, complete with a 65-foot-tall Ferris Wheel and a 16,000-gallon aquarium.
