Friday Fun with ID Collection’s Jim Williamson

|

Hi. It’s hot, and I’m behind on some duties. So I’m going to turn it over to ID Collection’s Jim Williamson. Today is the longest day of the year. Depending on what you did last night, it could feel even longer. But it’s Friday, and we do really like Fridays—especially when it’s after 5 pm. I’m actually starting the celebration for the LD of the Y, by having a yogurt at my desk. Yes, I’m always living on the edge. The addition of the nuts really makes for an edgy day.

Speaking of living on the edge, did you get a glance at the email sent to a photographer that was written by one of the aristocrats who allegedly were mistreating the help in the NYC? That letter makes Leona Helmsley look like Snow White. It also reminded me some text messages from one of my titled exes. I could tell you the title I gave him, but that would make this post inappropriate. In other news, I just read that there is a plant that eats sheep. Apparently the giant Puya chilensis is set to bloom after 15 years at the RHS Garden Wisley. The plant has a gigantic bloom that has razor sharp spines that is uses to ensnare animals. When the animals starve and decay at the base of the plant, they provide the plant with nutrition. Pretty gross. So in addition to having to figure out why Kimya’s new baby name is North West, I have to make sure I never have a Puya plant near my kitty.

But I digress as usual. We will also celebrate the longest day of the year with a multi-birthday celebration with friends at Peak & Elm. This means I can wear shorts and flip-flops, which is about the only way to dress in this heat. My sister once told me thatI should never ever wear flip-flops outside of the house, but I just bumped them up to designer level, so I think we’re all good. In keeping with the Klassy, we are also going to see The Bling Ring. The movie has gotten some good reviews, so I can’t wait to see the on-screen version of what we all experience through social media. After that, we have dinner reservations somewhere I have yet to dine in our fair city. With the proliferation of new restaurants, that list continues to grow. As we all know, Magneto loves him a list. I like a list, too, but I usually can’t read what I’ve written five minutes after the fact.

So as I go about meeting with even more possible new manufacturers (exciting and time consuming!) and  getting production schedules set up for the creation of some beautiful, gorgeous furniture for some of my super private VIPs , I hope you enjoy the longest day of the year in whatever fashion you find suits you best.

And remember, if you should happen to see a Puya, keep your pets and children at baaayyyy. Get it? Sheep? Baaah?  I know. It’s a real stretch. I’m leaving.
